“We’d love to work with the community at large to address the maternal health crisis facing Georgia — starting right here in Blackshear. Pierce County has no dedicated maternal housing services, and limited wraparound services for pregnant women in crisis — a service gap Georgia Peach Maternity Home directly fills. Our goal is to make this city a statewide leader in protecting first-time mothers and their babies.”

Transforming Maternal Housing in Southern Georgia
Safe, stable housing in a supportive, home-like environment for up to six first-time pregnant women at a time. Residents receive room and board throughout pregnancy and into the postpartum recovery period.
Each resident is paired with a case manager who helps her set personal goals, connect with services, navigate barriers, and develop a plan for long-term success. Case management is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and rooted in dignity.
We coordinate with local OB/GYNs, clinics, and doulas to ensure each woman receives regular prenatal care, childbirth education, and postpartum support. Transportation assistance and emotional support are provided for appointments and delivery.
Residents participate in structured classes covering parenting basics, newborn care, nutrition, home management, boundaries, and communication. We also teach decision-making and problem-solving skills that prepare women for life beyond the program.
We help residents finish high school, pursue GEDs, or enroll in training programs. Workforce readiness includes résumé building, job search support, and soft skills training to prepare them for employment after exiting the program.
Before exiting, each resident works with staff to secure stable housing, childcare, and ongoing community support. Aftercare includes follow-up check-ins, referrals, and access to peer or alumni mentorship.
